The Hillsboro High School band program has a long, successful and award-winning history. Our program is under the direction of Mr. Geoff Fotland with 75 talented and ambitious students striving to excel in music and performing arts.

Past awards have included 2005 3rd Place in the Single A Division at the Northwest Marching Band Championships, 2006 2nd Place Single A division at the Grand Floral Rose Festival Parade. In the past few years, Hillsboro High School bands have been acknowledged numerous awards for High Percussion, High Music, High General Effect and High Auxiliary. In the Spring of 2005, Hilhi's Symphonic Band was awarded the Gold Award at the Heritage Festival in San Francisco. December 2nd, 2006 the Hillsboro Jazz Band placed 2nd at the Northwest Oregon Conference Jazz Festival. 2 out of 3 Excellent Jazz Soloists Awards went to Hillsboro High musicians!

In April 2009, the Hilhi Band and traveled to San Francisco and competed in the Heritage Music Festival. They brought home a Silver award (3rd place) in Jazz and Silver award (2nd Place) for Symphonic Competition. Competition took place at Foothills College in Palo Alto against more than 12 excellent bands. The Color Gaurd also took a Silver! Other activities included a day at the Great America Adventure Park, a trip to Alcatraz Island and an afternoon on the Wharf and lunch at the Hard Rock!
